Steve @ Bonefish Grill

Sammi @ Bonefish Grill

We spent this aniversary at the Bonefish Grill. If you haven’t gone, I highly suggest you find one and go there as soon as humanly possible. It was really great food and not too expensive. All of it was amazing. Don’t forget the creme brulee!

I’m like a wannabe foodie. I love food.
Steve and I went out for sushi the other day as a sort of a gift from his dad. Thank you Mr. Grossi. We kept looking for rolls with mango in it somewhere in the spirit of warm weather and spring time.

Digital Rituals —052/365

Posted in 365, events, recent photos on February 24th, 2009 by Samantha – Be the first to comment

On Saturday night I went to the Digital Rituals show at JUNGLE in Bushwick, Brooklyn with Karol and Marissa. Very cool space. Pretty cool exhibits. Lots of video installations. It was nice to see people from Pratt again.

My favorite was the Baby Clone Arcade game.
For 2 bucks, I got myself a rubber baby clone that came with it’s own unique birth certificate. The babies were an artist edition of 1000. Each baby is supposed to be a clone of a celebrity. I got one of David Beckham. Marissa got one of Steve Jobs.

The only issue I had with the show was the lack of titles or descriptions for each piece. It left a lot of people, myself included, with some probably unnecessary questions.

Digital Rituals was produced by Republic Brooklyn.

Lunch With Carrie

Got burritos with Carrie the other day. This place, had some really cool pictures and posters. I apologize for the glare.

I introduced her to Twitter.(Check her out.) She asked me if I Tweet about every little thing in my life. Like “OMG. I am totally having lunch with Carrie right now!”  I laughed. Later that day, I did tweet about having lunch with her just for fun. Hah!

4 days.

Steve picked out 7 new friends for my 72 gallon freshwater tank. It has become quite the busy tank now. I have a lot of mollies, which are live breeders. It’s always so cute and lovely to see some baby fishes. I love it.

UNIQLO

I went in the Uniqlo store on Broadway the other day looking for something to get Steve for Valentine’s day. The large center display is being worked on currently and is covered up right now. They have some small Spring Previews of their clothes set up for now. This is a very interesting way to display some small previews. I really mean small. These display boxes are about 1 foot x 1 foot. I wouldn’t expect anything less from the Japanese company though. It’s fun, playful, and showcases the colors of the clothes of course. I dig it.

Valentine’s Day

Samantha on Valentine's day

Valentine's day dumplings

Steve on Valentine's day

We had a lovely low key Valentine’s Day. After getting lost for a long time and having to exchange some movie tickets, we went to see Coraline in 3D with real plastic glasses that fit really nicely over my own glasses.

If you are going to see this movie, I HIGHLY suggest seeing it in 3D. It’s worth the extra few bucks. Coraline is beautiful!! I loved the songs and the characters and their environments. The story was really well done. This is a movie, I would definitely see again (and again.) I was really impressed.

Coraline is rated PG. It was a little dark and sinister at times. I wouldn’t see this movie with children because it’s really not a children’s story except for the fact that it’s about a child. Dolls are creepy. Cats are cool. Schnauzers are pretty awesome. (One day, I’d like to have a Giant Schnauzer even though I’m really a cat person.) Buttons are… interesting. I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’ll stop here.

Go see Coraline. It’s in your best interest…

L’ECOLE

In celebration of half a year together, we decided to go to the French Culinary Institute’s restaurant L’Ecole on the corner of Grand and Broadway. DELICIOUS!!! We spent about $120 on two 4 course meals and a few drinks. I highly suggest trying this place out. It’s a great experience and the food always impresses. I always love seeing how the food is displayed.

Living in New Jersey or any suburban place in the Northeast, you come to somewhat hate deer at least. I tend to call them demon spawn because they are so dangerous on the roads at night. Totally scary.
I pass Evolution in SoHo every day walking back and forth to the subway from work. This is my favorite kind of deer… stuffed.

New Pepsi Logo

Posted in 365, found!!!, interesting news on January 25th, 2009 by Samantha – Be the first to comment

I must say that i am bothered by this.

The past logo was nothing too spectacular and I agree that they needed a change. But the thing that bothers me about this logo is how awkward the curves seem. The past logos were horrible. But this isn’t exactly the best upgrade.

It’s like a belching “e.” It’s disgusting.

vanilla cupcakes from choice market. brooklyn, NY

i don’t eat chocolate. i just have never liked it. (iapos;m strange. one in a million) when it comes to deserts, i tend not to have many options. but these cupcakes are amazing.

best cupcakes i have ever had in my entire life. ultimate favorite. they are not too sweet. the frosting is butter cream vanilla… i can never buy just one.

basically, blood would easily be spilled if you got between me and my cupcakes.

Posted in 365 on January 18th, 2009 by Samantha – Be the first to comment

today, i skidded off the road along this curve on a back road into the ditch on the right hand side of the road. i messed up my car pretty badly. i am quite fine. i wasn’t injured except for a cut on my finger that i somehow got while trying to frantically looking for my cell phone right after i came to a complete stop after colliding with the dirt/hill/foliage a few times. it had falling under one of the seats during impact.

after crying a whole bunch because of shock, and after my dad and uncle came by to make sure i was okay and that i could drive home, i figured this would make some great photos for today… but this one doesn’t show the damage. but, i’m okay with that.

in general, i need to start remembering/learning when to use my camera more during my average day. but, i have a strong love for the industrial landscape of north jersey.

sometimes, when the weather is warmer, you can see white cranes hanging out in the wetlands that NJ Transit goes through on the way to the city.

i keep dreaming about being able to walk through the swamps, along the railroad tracks, and under the highways and overpasses with a camera.

Crochet Hats —011/365

Posted in 365 on January 11th, 2009 by Samantha – Be the first to comment

I really think I look goofy.

Steve is wearing the 2nd hat I've ever crocheted.

I’ve made 2 crochet hats in the past few weeks.

The hats are kind of funny shaped… but it’s all a learning experience. I think I want to master this simple hat making before I learn how to crochet anything else.

So far… CROCHET > KNITTING.
I still have to finish the gray scarf I’m trying to knit for Steve.
